Frank Herbert's Dune is a 3D adaptation of the novel about a struggle between intergalactic feudal governments for control of the cruel but crucial planet Dune. Following a plot of justice and vengeance, you take the role of the gifted Paul Atreides to lead the mystic Fremen tribes against the House of Harkonnen, which massacred his family and stole his birthright in its greedy quest for power.
As Paul Atreides, you must complete a series of missions to prove your worth to the Fremen, including evasion or killing of Harkonnen soldiers. Gameplay elements include stealth (knifing guards from the side or from behind) and overt methods using a variety of projectile weapons. Healing your character of damage requires water -- on the desert planet, water is life. As water is limited in natural form, surprising and killing an enemy soldier with a knife allows you to take a portion of his body's water for healing purposes.
Frank Herbert's novel Dune is considered a classic of the genre. Dreamcatcher Interactive's software version of the adventure allows you to experience the harsh realities of Atreides existence as he strives to unite the fierce Fremen to regain his birthright. As a prerequisite, though, he must also come to terms with the Fremen's growing belief that he's the messiah, long foretold in legend.
