Hard time is easy to manage in the fourth edition of ValuSoft's Prison Tycoon series. Prison Tycoon 4: SuperMax once again tasks players with building and managing every aspect of a penitentiary, with each design choice and administrative decision affecting the facility's ultimate profitability. As in previous versions of the game, success depends on finding the right balance of security, rehabilitation, labor, and peacekeeping. Prison Tycoon 4 also earns its "SuperMax" subtitle by introducing new Restricted Access Quarters, which let wannabe wardens keep the worst of the worst locked up for 23 hours every day.
